Voluntary Active Euthanasia
The painless killing or permitting the death of individuals who are ill or injured beyond hope of recovery to limit or relieve suffering with a doctor’s direct assistance. This differs from physician assisted death because in this case, the attending clinician takes a more active role with the singular intention of causing a patient’s death, generally in the form of a lethal injection.
